How you can gather evidence for your discrimination claim

This guide applies to Employment Law in England, Scotland and Wales.

Okay, listen up. I am going to tell you the key way that you can protect yourself at work from any kind of mistreatment that has happened to you. Anything illegal that has happened.

There is one thing that you need to do to give yourself options later on. The one thing you need to do is to create contemporaneous evidence.

Now, contemporaneous evidence is a fancy way of saying that you need to write down what happened as soon as you possibly can after it happened.

The reason that's so important is because of how Tribunals and courts, in general, consider evidence. Tribunals know that there's not CCTV in every meeting room. Lots of things happen that you're not going to have hard proof for.

So the next best thing is for someone to write down their recollection as soon as they possibly can, because memory is unreliable.

So they will put more weight on something that was written down very quickly after it happened. So document everything.
