Valla is re-writing how workplace stories end
Founder Danae Shell created Valla because every workplace story she heard had the same ending. Something bad happened. People looked into their options. Then... nothing. The story always ended with "I just left."
It wasn't because they didn't have a case. It was because the system is broken. Legal help costs more than most people can afford, and going it alone feels impossible.
That's why we built Valla. It's not another law firm, it's something new - we give people the tools and guidance to take action on their own terms.
From idea to movement
Three years after launching, Valla has supported more than 13,000 cases, featured in national papers, and has built a community over 100,000 strong on social media.
Valla is proving that with the right tools and support, millions of people can write their own endings to their workplace story, and live in a fairer world.

Our team
Valla's team is a mix of legal, technology and domain experts who have worked at major law firms, the financial sector, startups, the charity sectors and more. Some of the companies we hail from include Skyscanner, Sainsbury's Bank, FreeAgent, Monzo, Adobe, PureGym, and more.
We're all focused on building new, innovative legal products that can support millions of people in the UK.
We also work with a growing group of UK legal experts, currently over 15, who we call "legal coaches." Valla's legal coaches are experienced litigators in the Employment Tribunal. Some of our legal experts are qualified solicitors and barristers, some are registered with CILEX, others have a law degree. All have extensive experience with the Employment Tribunal.

How we’re regulated
While Valla isn't a law firm, we are authorised to provide you with different types of legal support as you represent yourself.
SRA Regulation
First, Valla is authorised by the Solicitors Regulation Authority to conduct assessments of potential employment claims that you may have. We conduct these assessments under the supervision of qualified SRA solicitors.
Qualified legal experts
We also offer many “un-reserved” legal services to help you run your Tribunal case - for example our coaching services, document checks, and templates. These legal services are delivered by a group of hand-picked UK legal professionals with Tribunal experience and a variety of legal qualifications. This includes professionals who are solicitors, CILEX accredited lawyers, and HR professionals.
