Use emotions to help (not hinder) workplace disputes
Our CEO, Danae Shell is joined by behaviour and dispute experts, Debbie Androlia and Graeme Gregory from The Thrivelihood.
Event details
Suffering unfair or toxic treatment in the workplace is stressful.
Standing up to your employer and navigating the Employment Tribunal process surfaces a lot of emotions that can affect how we behave and whether we achieve the best outcome.
Whether you are raising a complaint at work or representing yourself at Employment Tribunal, managing your emotions is key to engaging effectively in difficult conversations and helping you move forward.
In this video, you'll learn how to:
- Identify emotions and how they impact communication, behaviour and outcomes when dealing with a workplace issue, grievance or Employment Tribunal
- Use your emotions to help (not hinder) you to take action and move forward with your claim
- Develop techniques to engage more effectively in conversations, conflict and negotiations with your employer
- Share your story and perspective effectively to the Tribunal

Who is hosting this event?
This event is being run by Danae Shell, one of Valla's founders. The team at Valla has built a platform to allow people to resolve their own employment issues when they can’t afford a law firm. Valla’s team is a mix of lawyers and technologists, and their platform is designed by employment law lawyers and experts.
Co-hosts
Graeme Gregory
Graeme is a mediator, negotiation coach and dispute resolution expert who focuses on helping clients find their best solutions in negotiations and conflicts. After 18 years’ working as a litigator, and after witnessing clients’ struggles as well as being involved in a dispute of his own, Graeme decided to change tack and use his experience to help people engage more positively with disagreements. Through a combination of training, coaching and mediation techniques, Graeme teaches individuals and teams to learn and develop the skills to disagree with confidence. In his spare time you can find Graeme running or playing tennis, although the Wimbledon dream is sadly over.
Debbie Androlia
Debbie is an experienced facilitator, coach, advisor and behavioural scientist who loves to help people to envision their future and work out how to get there. A strong believer in the maxim that “information doesn’t change behaviour”, Debbie helps clients to learn and use different behaviour change techniques to aid their decision making and implement the changes they want to see in their lives. In her spare time you can find Debbie at a gig or festival, walking in the fells or out in the garden.

Why use Valla?
A law firm can cost anywhere from an initial consultation fee of £200 to £35,000+ plus VAT for Tribunal representation.
Valla offers users low-cost alternatives to pricey law firms. We can help guide you through the process and generate legal documents for your use.
Lawyers can be expensive. But access to justice doesn’t have to be.
