Why we change people's names

At Valla, we want to show you real cases that have been to Tribunal or have settled, to give you an in-depth understanding of how the law is applied in real situations. We hope that this will help you to decide the best approach for your own case.

However, we know that this is an incredibly stressful time for people, and having their name splashed all over the internet is the last thing people need after their case ends. That's why we use aliases when we're discussing these cases.

In many cases, the names are listed on the full judgements that we link to, because they count as an exemption to data protection laws. We can’t help that. But we don’t have to repeat them.
